Mahindra is all prepared to open all-India bookings for the XUV500 by Friday, 8th June 2012. For the first commercial sales, the XUV500 was available only in 19 cities across India and now, is set for all India availability. From the initial sales and many fans generated from the recent two wins in the gruelling raid type of Rally events, the bookings of the XUV500 is anticipated for a blistering sales pitch.
The demand for this special and unique vehicle has left with atleast nine months of production capacity have been sold out. Phew! Now that looks like it is going to set some kind of new record. With such record creating sales demand has left with the Mahindra to increase the production capacity of the XUV500 with nothing less than 4,000 units per month.
And the demand that looks like a never-ending for the XUV500 could just cross two folds post 8th June booking openings.
The all excited, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra says
"It has been an incredible journey so far for the XUV500 and we are pleased to take the product national. We have been inundated with requests for re-opening of bookings not just from existing cities but also from cities where the XUV500 was not available."
He didn't forget to add that the company has already ramped-up its production capacity with quite a unprecedented scale and they are confident that they will be able to tackle the ever-growing all-India demand for the new XUV500. The XUV500 has also received more bookings than some of the under Rs. 10 lakh sedans, which better explains its VFM approach. During the second phase of bookings (XUV500 lucky draw), Mahindra & Mahindra crossed more than 25,000 applications in the initial 10 days of bookings that took place, between 25th Jan and 3rd Feb 2012. From of the first 25,000 applications, about 7,200 were picked through lucky draw of which, the results were announced on February 15th and deliveries followed it.
The all athletic and brash front grille looks of the XUV500 is definitely a head turner when on roads, well I never forget to give it atleast a second look when ogling is not possible. The heart of the XUV500, 2.2-litre VGT Turbo-charged Intercooled Common Rail Diesel engine that churns 140 bhp (max), with 330 Nm (max) of gut wrenching torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox defines a must have authority. The XUV500 is ARAI-certified with an average of 15.1 kmpl.
If the above showcased that really makes an enthusiast drool, here is the list of must-have's of the uber-luxury and safety demanding individual's features such as six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), cruise control, hill-hold control and hill-descent control, GPS navigation with touch screen infotainment system all integrated to CD player with USB, Bluetooth Connectivity for handsfree driving while on the phone call, with Steering Audio Controls and a even the voice command for stereo. It even features static bending lights (which aids in negotiating fast and tight corners), tyretronics to inform you of a misfortune of a puncture, chiller box for chilled beer... err cool-drinks, the rain-sensing wipers, light-sensing automatic headlamps and follow-me home headlamps and finally, to the european standards of LED Daylight Running Lamp (a first for an Indian make).
All this package is now delivered for the XUV500 which is offered in three variants, W6, W8 and W8 AWD (4×4) for a mouth-watering pricing and aggressively priced, in the range of Rs. 11.58 lakh – Rs. 14.11 lakh.
